Guide to Greece

Greece is one of the most popular countries to visit and it has been on my bucket list for a very long time. The ancient history, delicious food and amazing views is why it remains a top tiered travel destination. There are different options on how you can visit the country: You can do guided tours with travel companies or do a self guided tour. We decided to do it on our own so that we have more flexibility on things we wanted to do/see. After doing research we narrowed our cities down to Athens, Mykonos and Santorini.

Athens

Athens, named after the Greek Goddess Athena, is the capitol of Greece with many points of interest. Being the heart of ancient Greece, the city contains rich history (ancient architecture and archeology) as well as great shopping and amazing food. We stayed at O&B Suites which is close to the Acropolis so it was walking distance to everything we wanted to do.

Santorini

Santorini is one of the most breathtaking place I have ever visited. I couldn’t get enough of the white cave houses looking at the blue water. The two most popular towns are Oia and Fira. The town of Oia is picture perfect and you will not want to leave from there. Santorini is a small island so getting around is really easy. We ended up staying in Oia since most of the stuff we wanted to do was walking distance from there. Stayed at Oia Suites and it was breathtaking.

Things to do in Santorini:

Watching the sunset in Oia is absolutely breathtaking (We were able to watch from our Hotel)

Fira

Spend a day exploring the city of Fira. You can either take public transportation, rent an ATV or hike from Oia to Fira. It will probably take about 4-5 hours for the hike but the views are amazing. We took public transportation to get to Fira but on our way back hiked from Fira to Imerovigli and took the bus from there.
